Easy Halloween Costume for Men With Long Beards
What do you do when you have a big old beard and you're trying to come up with a Halloween costume with a beard? You use it, of course! Embrace that facial hair and let it be part of your ensemble. There'sno reason you need to shave just for Halloween, just get a costume for dudes with beards and you're set! No matter if you have a little stubble, a fine mustache, a long goatee, or a long flowing beard, there's a costume choice for you. We spent some timecombing through the farthest reaches of the internet for inspiration for all you whiskered gentlemen. (There are only so many times guys with beards can put on a dress for a bearded lady costume!) We're looking to create real Halloween costumes for men with beards! (Maybe someday you can find funny beard costumes or costumesfor beards!) The sky is the limit here.
1. Black Panther Costume
No one rocks a beard and a black catsuit like the king of Wakanda! T'Challa's finely groomed beard and mustache are basically perfect. There's never a hair out of place, so we recommend touching up your Avengers costume look before heading out. If you're looking for Halloween costumes for black guys with beards, this look should be at the top of your list.
2. Devil Costume
They say that every girl is crazy for a sharp-dressed man and, well, the devil is in the details. If you're feeling up to a pretty time-intensive makeup look, you and your goatee should dress as a classic devil. The black goatee and all red skin mixed with the usual suspects—you know, horn, tail, pitchfork…—will make this traditional costume idea very memorable. (If you ask us, you'll be one handsome devil!)
3. Werewolf Costume
A werewolf could definitely rock a scraggly, feral lookin' beard. Muttonchops would help with that one, too. Not everyone wants to wear a Halloween mask all night, so use your beard to your advantage. Don't forget to add some wicked-cool special effects makeup, either! If you need some ideas because you don't do much makeup, check out our men's makeup tutorial for ideas to bring out your wolfish side.
4. Iron Man Costume
Tony Stark's finely-trimmed facial hair is the stuff of legends, and you too can carry on this legacy with your Iron Man costume. His mask is pretty cool, but let's be real here—it gets in the way when you want to snack and drink at your Halloween party, not to mention hot and sweaty. If you don't have a bodacious beard you're not willing to part with, get out your razor and wear Iron Man's nicely trimmed beard and mustache combo as the perfect costume accessory.
5. Wolverine Costume
We all know that Wolverine's signature chops cannot be beaten. X-Men's Wolverine has quite a few signature outfits perfect for Halloween and even cosplay events, all the way from classic Wolverine to old man logan. However, no matter how you choose to dress up, you want the fuzzy chops to match! If this look is screaming your name, find your favorite Wolverine Halloween costume.
6. Santa Costume
Why is it that so many super-long beards are snow-white?! Is it because it takes an entire life to grow something that long? Not everyone can have a beard impressive enough to be Santa, but if you've got it, flaunt it! You can find plenty of Santa suits to suit your needs, from an inexpensive version to a premium quality outfit fit for a mall Santa. If you intend to dress as Santa for Halloween, don't forget to hang onto your Santa outfit for Christmas!
7. Thor Costume
There are tons of great superheroes with beards, and Thor actually has a few different bearded looks from which to choose. You have classic Thor, for one. And then there's Bro Thor—sometimes referred to as "Fat Thor"—who appeared in Avengers: Endgame after events didn't exactly go in the Avengers' favor. Whether you want enough whiskers to cover your chin or a big, puffy beard, this versatile superhero is perfect for blond men with beards.
8. Bob Ross Costume
Arguably one of the easiest DIY costumes for guys with beards, Bob Ross is an instant hit at Halloween parties. Find a costume kit with all the accessories you need to turn you into a painting master, or simply give off the essence of Bob in a happy little trees blazer. Of course, no Bob Ross outfit is complete without his signature fro. Should you happen to be hunting for a beard and afro costume combo, this is just what you need!
9. Jack Sparrow Costume
Captain Jack Sparrow is a perfect costume choice if your bristly beard is nice and long, but you don't really feel like being anything we suggested above. All pirates are dirty and scuzzy, but Jack seems nice and manicured. (Relatively speaking.) He even plaited that beard! If you aren't sure how to do two little pigtail braids with your whiskers, we're sure you can find a friend, mom, wife, girlfriend, or daughter who can help.
10. Aquaman Costume
While often depicted as smooth-shaven, Jason Momoa's on-screen Aquaman embraced a fully-bearded look, and we're not turning back! The cool thing is that, in some newer Aquaman comic art, he gets to have a beard too. Whether your beard is brown or blond, Aquaman fans can proudly show off their beards in all of their glory. Just don't forget his golden trident!
11. Luke Skywalker Costume
Jedi Master Luke Skywalker from The Last Jedi grew an impressive beard in his seclusion, and he wears it well. If you're an older guy with a beard or you simply love grumpy old man Luke, this bearded Star Wars costume idea is for you! Just...try not to gross out too many people by drinking green milk and stuff.
12. Lion Costume
Incorporating your luscious, furry bristles into an animal costume is a great idea for guys with beards this Halloween. Really, all you need are some cans of colored hairspray and maybe a back-comb to get those whiskers at full volume, and your lion costume is good to go. If your beard is long enough and you want to lean into the Cowardly Lion, look for your friends wearing Wizard of Oz costumes, put some curls into your beard for extra nostalgia points.
13. Hagrid Costume
While Hagrid isn't technically a wizard, the gamekeeper of Hogwarts has an incredibly magical beard. So magical that we absolutely needed to include him in this bearded costume list. If you choose to dress as Rubeus, though, be sure to have a couple of his quotes and his accent ready to go. You'll be pressed to say "Yer a wizard, 'arry" all night in this Harry Potter costume, so you better be prepared.
14. Captain Spaulding Costume
Do you have a beard? Are you a horror movie fan? If you answered yes both times, good news—Captain Spaulding might be in your wheelhouse. This iconic character from House of 1000 Corpses is bound to scare up a good time at any Halloween party. (Plus, it's a great excuse to bring along a bucket of fried chicken to add to your scary costume.) If you're a bald guy with a beard, you even get to skip the bald cap!
15. Jules Pulp Fiction Costume
Being a hitman is kind of an odd job for a spiritual man like Jules, but there's no denying that he's good at what he does. If you're rocking a beard and fro combo, we're sure that you can pull off Pulp Fiction's Jules. Just make sure you're looking sharp in a black suit and tie, and you have a shiny nickel-plated pistol at your side. Just make sure not to go off on people for saying "what" because no one needs to have a chat with mister nine-millimeter.
16. Leprechaun Costume
A leprechaun is also a wonderful costume for bald men with beards—a bushy red beard is the only requirement, after all! Just like the Santa costume, wearing a leprechaun costume for Halloween also means that you have the opportunity to use it again for St. Patrick's Day. In true leprechaun fashion, getting a two-for-one is just helping you save that pot of gold!
17. The Dude Costume
If you sport the "normal dude" beard, you're in for a treat—you have a world's worth of Halloween costume options at your whisker-tips. (But that's just, like, our opinion, man.) You probably don't need an excuse to show up at a Halloween party in a bathrobe and slippers with a White Russian in hand, but if you want one, here it is! Just make sure to compliment your host on their rug. It really brings the room together.
18. Jon Snow Costume
Jon Snow (while he may not know many things) knows how to grow the perfect stubble. You would think that living North of the Wall would call for something a bit more heavy-duty, but the King of the North seems to favor something a bit more reserved. You do you, Jon Snow. In fact, now that we think about it…Game of Thrones had quite a few good beard options, didn't it? If you're looking for TV costumes with beards, Game of Thrones costumes are certainly one way to go.
19. Reno 911 Costume
Reno 911 has pleeenty of inspiration for mustachioed costumes, and they're easy cosplay ideas for beginners! You could either be brave and dress as Lt. Dangle here or just dress as aregular cop. (Whatever, lame!) Either way, a nice and thick crumb-catcher hanging out under your nose will be the best accessory when you want to dress as law enforcement. If you're feeling extra brave, get a pair of white cowboy boots and do some new-boot-goofin'.
20. Hulk Hogan Costume
Hulkamania is running wild, brother! The WWE has lots of characters with facial hair, and Hulk Hogan is a great WWE Halloween costume idea for mustache-only men. Blond guys with mustaches are sure to stand out in Hulk Hogan's signature yellow and red outfit, and of course, don't forget the yellow boots! Hulk's facial hair is named "the horseshoe," not the handlebar. Don't mess it up. Other people who sport the horseshoe? James Hetfield from Metallica, movie-cowboy Sam Elliott, the leather guy from the Village People, and Lemmy from Motorhead.
21. Dumbledore Costume
When it comes to wizards with really long beards, you can basically take your pick who you want to dress as for Halloween. Feeling academic? Go with Dumbledore! If you want to be the real deal, super deluxe Dumbledore, that is, if you have the beard to prove worthy of such an elegant headmaster look, this costume will be sure to provide you with the respect and honor you so deserve.
22. John Wick Costume
Handsome hitman John Wick is one of many great movie costumes for bearded men. This one is pretty easy to DIY, too! All you need is a black suit with a black tie and black or white undershirt, and don't forget a pistol. (Just make sure that your venue is okay with prop guns first.) Your beard should be enough for people to tell you apart from other secret agents in black suits, but you can always bring a stuffed dog to really drive it home.
23. Obi-Wan Kenobi
Another great Star Wars costume for men with beards is the Jedi Master, Obi-Wan. Put your salt and pepper scruff to good use with his classic costume from the original trilogy, or dress as a younger Obi-Wan from the Clone Wars TV series. Master Kenobi's classic costume also works for episodes 1-3 if you still prefer his big, billowy brown robe. (It is pretty cool!) Don't forget to pick up a blue lightsaber to really bring it all together.
24. Gandalf Costume
More in the mood for a great adventure? Gandalf is your wizard of choice. This master wizard from The Lord of the Rings trilogy has tons of powerful spells that he uses to help his adventuring party reach Mordor. Along the way, he gets an upgrade from Gandalf the Grey to Gandalf the White, so choose wisely depending on your impressive beard. Also, be prepared to belt out a few "You shall not pass!" lines throughout the night.
25. Macho Man Costume
Oooooh yeeeeeeeeah! Who could forget Randy Savage, one of WWE's most colorful characters? His fluffy brown beard and mustache pair perfectly with his wild glasses, hats and suits. This king of the ring is quite a character, so be prepared to do some acting on Halloween.
26. Walter White Costume
Mr. White transformed a lot during the course ofBreaking Bad—from Mr. Chips to Scarface himself. That brunette goatee, along with that weird hat, signified Walt's change from chemistry teacher to Heisenberg, the drug kingpin known and loved by all. This Breaking Bad costume would go well with practically any men's goatee!
27. Coming to America Costume
The 80s had lots of great comedy movies, including one of our favorites, Coming to America. The movie actually features several characters with mustaches, from Prince Akeem to King Jaffe, and who could forget smooth singer Randy Watson? These Coming to America costumes are perfect for dudes that love 80s costumes and want to make people laugh at the party.
28. Ron Burgundy Costume
Speaking of comedy movies featuring cool crumb catchers, check out these Anchorman costumes! This comedy movie riffs on 70s culture, and honestly, the ideas for this one go on and on—you could even just put "70s" in front of something normal, and the soup-strainer will automatically change your idea to a retro 70s costume. 70s cop? Cool. 70s anchorman? Yep! 70s...rock climber? Sure, why not?
29. Garden Gnome Costume
If you're looking for a classic bearded costume for any type of facial fuzz, you can't go wrong with the classic garden gnome. Closely related to the Papa Smurf costume, garden gnomes are versatile enough for beards of all lengths, styles and colors. While they usually come with a beard included, you have the option to B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Beard!)
30. Silent Bob Costume
Silent Bob may be a man of few words, but he makes up for that with an impressive beard. The best part about being Silent Bob is that it gives you an excuse not to talk much so you can hover around the snacks and drinks at the Halloween party. It's also a great character option for big guys looking for plus-size costumes. However, if you find dressing as Silent Bob a bit too tired, upgrade with Bluntman instead.
31. King Triton Costume
There's a good chance that you may be asked to accompany your wife, child, or friend as part of their Disney costume, but fear not! King Triton is the king of the Disney beards. With your beard, all you really need is a trident, crown and some golden bracers to give the right idea, although some scaly fins aren't a bad idea. You can also repurpose a Poseidon costume if necessary, because who doesn't love a DIY guy?
32. Zeus Costume
By the beard of Zeus! We could never forget one of the biggest names in Greek mythology. While Zeus is often depicted with a white beard in popular culture, any beard would do, really. You just need to make sure to be wearing a toga costume with his signature lightning bolts at the ready, and you're ready to party like it's 479...BC.
33. Goat Costume
Billy goats are KNOWN for having beards, so get the hair gel and style those hairs on your chinny chin chin. And, wanna know the BEST goat we've seen in years? Black Phillip! You can totally concoct a costume featuring the best character fromThe Witch. Maybe you're still pining for something mythological? Get yourself some goat horns and turn your goat into a satyr or faun costume. We're sure other creature fans will be fawning over you.
34. Bearded Lady Costume
We know that there's a bit of a love-hate relationship with the bearded lady costume, but if that's how you want to display your beard, that's up to you. There are even specific bearded ladies in pop culture that perhaps inspired you, and maybe you even intend to cosplay them. You have Lettie Lutz from The Greatest Showman, Lila Villanueva from Carnivàle and Ethel Darling in American Horror Story: Freak Show. You may be dressing as part of a circus group costume, and we hope you have a blast!
35. Kratos Costume
If you're not afraid of doing a little body paint, Kratos is a great video game costume with a beard! (Link could never!) Sure there are other video game characters with beards such as Geralt of Rivia and Zangief, but you've ascended as the god of war, and you're fighting gods and taking names. Add in your trusty blades of chaos, and you're ready for all manner of Halloween parties or nerdy conventions.
36. Super Troopers Costume
Okay, so you wanna be a cop for Halloween. And you want it to be from something FUNNY, not stressful. But you don't want your costume to be fromReno 911. Have you consideredSuper Troopers? You could choose which character to be, but why wouldn't you choose Farva? There are so many bristled lips in this movie that it would make a truck stop blush.
37. Khal Drogo Costume
We have seen a few bearded costumes for bald men, but this one's for you, bearded guys with long hair! If you're not afraid of trying some more advanced facial hair techniques such as styling that beard, give Khal Drogo a try. You're bound to find a few hair tutorials if you need help to nail this look.
38. Charlie Chaplin Costume
History is full of amazing beards and mustaches, but few are as famous as Charlie Chaplin's fuzzy lip. A comedy genius, his work remains funny today! With his iconic suit, you just need your mustache, a bowler hat and a cane to complete your 1920s costume. The best part is that you don't need to remember any funny lines to pull this men's mustache costume idea off—it's all physical comedy!
39. Dwarf Costume
If you're a fantasy fan, is there anything better than a dwarf costume to show off that epic beard? It doesn't matter if you prefer the seven dwarfs from Snow White or Gimli and Thorin from Tolkien's novels. You have a beard, and you'll make it happen! Some Viking costumes and other historical costumes can easily be repurposed for a Lord of the Rings or Hobbit-worthy dwarf costume by adding your impressive beard, a cloak and prop weapons. If you happen to have enough beard to cosplay Bombur, just know that you're a legend because he has one of the most ridiculous beards in the movies.
40. Merlin Costume
How about a more Arthurian representation of a magical, bearded dude? Merlin from The Sword in the Stone would work just fine. (Or from any number of other Merlin and King Arthur movies and TV shows!) This world-renowned magician is so famous that all you need is a wizard costume and a long, white beard, and everyone will know exactly who you are.
41. Jim Hopper Costumes
Season 4 Jim Hopper
As always, TV has come through with some very fine-looking facial hair. While Hopper…uhhh…may not have been the friendliest guy in every season ofStranger Things, you have to admit that his classic 80s cop stache and man-with-major-personal-demons scruff is a look. Bonus: Did you buy that Hawaiian shirt for Hopper's date night look? You get to wear that year-round. (Maybe skip wearing it on a first date, though.)
42. Master Roshi Costume
The classic anime, Dragon Ball Z, has one of the most iconic bearded characters in all of anime—Master Roshi. His bright orange shirt, tortoise shell back, staff and sunglasses would be nothing without his bushy white beard to complete this Dragon Ball Z costume. Just remember to be courteous if you're cosplaying or at a Halloween party, because not everyone is in on his main gag.
43. Hangover Costume
One of the best parts of dressing as Alan fromThe Hangover for your beard-licious Halloween costume is that it's basically jeans and a t-shirt. (This one's a perfect, simple cosplay idea that will get recognized!) After you put your outfit on, don some aviators and strap on a baby doll in a carrier. (Or maybe include your infant for a hilarious baby costume?) The other best part about dressing as Alan? Getting to talk about your one-man wolf pack all night. And maybe inviting some select friends to join said pack?! Who knows where the night will lead.
44. Forrest Gump Costume
Of course, who is more famous than Forrest Gump? His long, long beard that he grew while running across the country would definitely be a major contender for No-Shave November. While you can find a running Forrest Gump costume, this one is also a relatively easy DIY costume as he has a few different outfits. (Thankfully!) He can be seen running in both short and long sleeve plaid shirts with shorts and his Bubba Gump Shrimp hat, but the beard is the key to unlocking the perfect movie beard costume!
45. Ron Swanson Costume
What is it about mustaches that go with comedy movies and TV so well? Is it the fact that you can wiggle your upper lip and it twitches in a funny way? Maybe it's how you can take a sip of a drink and come away with milk in your mustache. Whatever the case may be, quirky yet refined Ron Swanson wears his mustache well. Just get a burgundy button-down shirt, khaki pants and a belt...maybe a coffee mug too. He can debate some really bizarre topics, such as the superiority of dogs or breakfast foods, but whatever comes out of this man's mouth is inevitably going to be funny.
46. ZZ Top Costume
The members of ZZ Top are great guitarists, successful musicians, Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, but ask anyone about them and what's the first thing they say? "Oh yeah, the guys with the big beards!" If you're rockin' some whiskers that almost reach your belly button, then take this look into consideration. All you need is a brown cowboy hat, a guitar, a black blazer or leather jacket, and of course, your beard.
47. Papa Smurf Costume
As Papa Smurf loves to say, "It doesn't matter where you come from, it only matters who you choose to be". If you love beards and body paint, perhaps Papa Smurf is a character costume you'd love to wear for Halloween. He's wise, and he knows how to enjoy the simple things in life. Plus, he's instantly recognizable, but most people aren't going to hound you for quotes. (Which is great if you feel like you always crack under pressure.) Just make sure to keep an eye out for evil wizards with cats.
48. Geralt Costume
The Witcher has always been an excellent video game series, but Geralt has had more exposure with a TV show as well. This gristly old monster slayer is great for guys with salt and pepper hair and beards, but you can still achieve the look with some gray hair spray if you simply must be Geralt. He wears a variety of armor but is also known to don casual and even formal doublets (which he hates), so there is some flexibility here!
49. Blackbeard Costume
Beards are so great that some people have actually gained historical nicknames from them—Blackbeard the pirate, for example. His real name was Edward Teach, but who's going to remember that with a nickname like Blackbeard? Pick up a pirate costume and you too can be Blackbeard for the day, or perhaps Redbeard, Greybeard or some other beard-related cool pirate-sounding name! If you're on "beard" with us, find yourself a snazzy swashbuckler costume.
50. Inigo Montoya
"Hello! My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die!" You had better memorize these words if you expect to dress as Inigo Montoya from The Princess Bride. Our favorite comedy movie Spaniard has a few zingers, but his pre-duel phrase is an absolute must. If you can find a friend willing to be your Fezzik, you have a funny costume duo made in heaven...at least for Halloween night!
51. The Undertaker Costume
The Undertaker has that very sinister goatee thing going on, and we're here for it! Plus, what's not to love about dressing as a character named "The Undertaker" for Halloween? His scraggly black hair, wide-brimmed black hat, black trench coat and boots are such a mood. If you have a black beard but you're coming up short on the hair, fear not! You can find the perfect Undertaker wig online.
52. Abe Lincoln Costume
US History is full of bearded characters, including famous Presidents and abolitionists. Abraham Lincoln is probably the most well-known, and if you're a tall guy with a beard, Honest Abe may be perfect for you. (Just watch your hat when ducking through doorways!) However, let's not leave Frederick Douglass out. You can easily wear an Abe Lincoln costume with a bow tie and transform into one of America's most famous abolitionists. Make sure to brush up on your history, folks, because you know people will ask!
53. King Henry Costume
Are you ready for yet another little history lesson? (Didn't think you'd be learning anything in a costume blog, did you?) King Henry definitely had quite the distinct look, but he was best known for his six wives. As one rhyme goes, "King Henry VIII, to six wives he was wedded. One died, one survived, two divorced, two beheaded." (No chopping heads off, please!) Unless, of course, you have a friend who wants to go as a beheaded Anne Boleyn. Because that would be rad.
54. Freddie Mercury Costume
No one rocks a mustache quite like Freddie Mercury—or rocks as much as him musically either! The Queen lead singer was the stuff of legends, with vocals that instantly make anyone familiar with "Bohemian Rhapsody" break into song no matter where there they are. (Please tell us that you're already starting with, "Is this the real life?".) However, just like many other famous musicians, bearded or not, Freddie has a few different looks ready for MTV.
55. Jesus Costume
Are you a brunette man with mid-length wavy brown hair and a beard? Have you been approached by random strangers and told that you look like Jesus? Maybe it's time for you to lean into your natural looks with a Jesus costume for Halloween. There may also be times where you'd want a bearded Biblical costume for pageants or other events, but that's entirely up to you!
When you start to look, you see dudes with beards everywhere. Halloween will never be the same once be-bearded men know they can buy a beard costume that's perfect for them...and their beard. We'll leave you with this, a ragtag group of characters, real and fictional, from past and present. Drake, Keanu, Letterman…all dudes rockin' some various yet beautiful beards. We just know you'll find someone that suits you perfectly! There are also plenty of other Halloween costumes for men with beards, such as Vikings, cowboys and other celebrity costumes. How have you used your beard for your costume? Have you shaved, manicured, styled, brushed, braided, twisted, or twirled your facial hair to get the perfect look? Let us know your ideas in the comments! Pics, too!
